Essentials To Pack In Your Child’s Dance Bag: Part 2

If you read part one of this blog series, you already know how important it is to pack dance shoes, a change of clothes, a hairbrush, and plenty of extra hair ties in your child’s dance bag before you drop them off at dance class. When it comes to kids’ dance classes, it’s better to be over-prepared than it is to have to make trips back to the house to grab forgotten tights, leotards, ballet shoes, and other essentials while your child is at their dance lesson. So, from our dance instructors at Miss Colleen's Elite Dancentre in Rockville Centre, NY, here are a few more dance essentials to pack in your child’s dance bag before you head to our dance studio!

Granola Bars & Healthy Snacks

It’s important to make sure that your child is fueled up before taking them to their dance lessons, and it’s just as important to have backups in their dance bag if they get hungry during a break or on the drive home from the dance school. Just like soccer, baseball, and every other kids’ sports practice, dance classes get your child moving and can wear them out after an hour of non-stop leaps, sashays, tumbles, or tap dancing. Some healthy snacks we recommend bringing include granola bars, fruit leather, apple slices with peanut butter, and anything else that’ll give them the energy they need to keep on dancing!

Band-Aids

Hip-hop classes, jazz dance classes, and modern dance all involve lots of fast-paced dance moves and floor work, making it incredibly important to have a first aid kit on hand with band-aids, antibiotic ointment, and other essentials, should your little one get hurt. While this is rare at our Rockville Centre dance academy, accidents do happen, so it never hurts to come prepared for a boo-boo. Sometimes, hard work comes at a painful price, especially with pointe shoes!

Water Bottle

We probably should have mentioned this one first because water is the number-one most important thing for your child to have in their dance bag. When your child is running around, leaping, and following fun dance combos for an hour straight, they’ll need a water break to stay hydrated and energized. The last thing we want is for dance students to get dehydrated or feel lightheaded during their dance lesson, so be sure to pack plenty of water when you take them to their dance class or ballet training session.
